Regional and local Government
The of functions and powers of the Governor, Regional and Local Authorities councilors benefit the residents in terms of decision making and delegated authorities to the region’s elected councilors. Decentralization policy ensures the efficiency implementation of national policies in the region. The Ministry of Region and Local Government and Housing has the policy that only settlement areas, towns and villages that are properly planned and proclaimed will be developed by the installation of urban services. This policy also benefits the NHE and Build Together housing projects. The Zambezi Regional Council will have the following settlement areas such as Chinchimani, Lusese, Kongola, Ngoma, Sangwali and Sibbinda planned and proclaimed.
Financial Services
The current lack of credit facilities for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the Zambezi Region has created the need for a regional credit fund. The fund will encourage business development by assisting emerging entrepreneurs to compile sound business plans and by the provision of the necessary startup capital. The creation of private sector banking facilities in Katima Mulilo greatly enhances the financial services and thereby improves development possibilities for the inhabitants of the Zambezi Region.
